History: It's dangerous to go alone. Take this. Whoops, wrong canon.Personality: Zack is friendly and personable. He believes in teamwork and is very supportive of everyone involved. Even though he's a highly revered member of SOLDIER, he doesn't take all of the credit for their mission successes; he says that everyone present helps make it happen. He's also extremely positive, believing that everyone will be able to come back alive from missions, regardless of how dangerous. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone is alright and taken care of, quick to jump to assist them. Kind of a Team Dad sort of person.
He figures things will work out somehow, they just need to keep trying to do their best. He also believes in the confidence of others and will stand aside to let them do their best, only intervening when necessary. He's also quick to dive in and rescue said people when they're in danger, have been captured, or otherwise in the worst of a compromising situation.
Zack's faith and others is strongly bonded by the first, positive impressions he sees in a person, and he says time doesn't matter when it comes to making friends. He trusts alot of people after working with them only once. He has also shown tendencies to be stubborn about his faith in others, insisting that he knows them better than what people believe to be the worst in them. Even when he’s betrayed, he stays strong in his faith and tries to work things out reasonably.
He's also a massive flirt, particularly when it comes to the ladies. Any time he sees a pretty girl, he won't hesitate to comment on it, and let them know, making him very straightforward as well. Despite his attractions, though, he is very loyal when dedicated to one girl - namely Aerith. He makes every effort to see and talk to her, even when work gets in the way. He also tells her to write down all of her wishes (23 of them) so that he can fulfill them and not forget. And even when it’s four years later after his imprisonment, the first thing he wants to do is go find Aerith, to fulfill his promises and to be by her side again.
He has a massive playful streak. Even in the face of danger, he'll call out to his opponents with phrases such as, "Here doggy, doggy, doggy. Come here!" Even knowing he's there to fight them. When he was younger, this playfulness was stronger and more stubborn. He wanted to do things his way, trying to get the most enjoyment out of what he was doing at any given time. Carrying snark and cockiness, he often behaved recklessly. He was also very quick to show physical affection and easy to excite. Regardless of past or present, he
always enjoys his time spent with others. Goofing around is something he lives for, and he will even crack terrible jokes to keep the humour going.
He's mellowed out in his pride since his younger days, while managing to keep his lighthearted air. He's very honest about his feelings and seems to hide nothing. Even if he doesn’t like what he’s feeling or seeing, he’s quick to find a way to resolve it that best suits him and the others involved, and often thinks out loud. If he’s not satisfied with the circumstances, he will go out of his way to turn it around and get through it.
He certainly doesn't always think things through, though, such as heading into his hometown after he narrowly escaped the Turks. He knows it could potentially be a trap, opting not to walk in through the front door, but he still neglects the fact that this is the first place the Turks would look. He simply does what he feels when he feels it. Consequences only seem to mean something when someone else is on the line.
He's also very sympathetic and doesn't kill when he doesn't have to. Such as refusing to kill monsters only in self-defense. If he can get them to back off with his persuasion, he sees no reason to attack. Very often he will try to take the peaceful route and persuade others to see it his way. And almost as often, his kindness is rewarded with positive results. He worries more about other people than himself.
His biggest dream is to become a hero, which is the biggest reason he went on to join SOLDIER. He has no problem jumping in to rescue and protect people. He believes in dreams and honour, and gets most of his quotes from his mentor, Angeal. To believe in his dreams and protect his honour, he comes to teach future generations of SOLDIER the same quotes. Overall, he reaches out to everyone, and gives them more than the benefit of the doubt. Believing in everyone is important to him, and helping them achieve their goals is even more so. Zack’s positivity isn’t easily dampered and he’s highly resilient to negative attitudes and experiences, even the ones that make him break down for awhile. He springs back up to meet the next challenge and strives for a happy ending through it all.
Inventory: He'll be bringing just himself.
Abilities: Weapon Proficiency - Primarily swords, even of the massive variety. He has been shown to be able to lift and wield the Buster Sword with ease, while a dozen infantrymen can't even pull it out of the ground. He's also effectively wielded a beach umbrella in this manner.
Physical Capability - As with all of SOLDIER, Zack is very physically fit and able. From superiour levels of strength and agility, to being able to survive falls. He is generally able to recover quickly, primarily due to Mako infusion giving him superhuman abilities.
Materia - gives him the ability to cast elemental-similar spells or boost certain statistics, such as health, stealth, or strength. Special Materia can be used for Summons. Zack can fuse Materia, creating combined effects with them.
Injury Resilience - Because of the Mako infusion, it takes much, much more to injure and knock a SOLDIER down and out. Certainly not invincible by any means, but they can sustain and recover from multiple serious injuries.
Copycat - Zack can learn skills, such as Limit Breakers, after them perform it just once and be able to perform it as well. However, he also twists it to make it into his own. Some of his personal combos are as follows.
-Chain Slash: rapid attacks with a sword.
-Rush Assault: rapid physical attacks and charges, resulting in explosions.
-Octaslash: close combat rapid strikes from all directions with a sword. Ends in an explosion.
-Lucky Stars: Produces stars that boost Zack's attack, striking with his sword.
-Air Strike: Summons a Turk Helicopter to take out the enemy with missiles.
-Healing Wave: Cures everything and restores stats to full.
-Meteor shots: Shoots down meteors to destroy the opponent.
-Apocalypse: Creates a giant magic circle underneath the enemy, bombarding the opponent with electricity.
-Rebirth Flame: Summons a phoenix and drowns the opponent in a sea of flames.
Sensing - Zack can sense nearby presences, being able to tell when something is near. This makes him efficient for detecting enemies and being prepared to handle obstacles with opponents.
Persuasion - When Zack faces off against certain opponents, he can command them in a sense. Such as when he's fighting against a couple of monsters, as they approach him, he gives a very loud command for them to stay back, and they obey. He follows up with telling them to go home to their friends, and they leave. He'll also try to appeal to other people's humanity, such as memories they share or kindness he believes they have, and even will ignore the worst in people.
Flaws: Zack's overall an extremely kindhearted person, but however is very headstrong. It's lead him into some trouble in his past, and even ended his life, even if it was all well-intentioned. Although considerably less often as he got older, his will to do all that is good can cloud his vision from what
really needs to be taken care of in that moment.
